Children are known to be particularly responsive to music and many primary schools these days find it difficult to provide a suitable outlet for any child with a talent. Dorset Rural Music School offers the best in tuition - either privately or in classes - and fills the current void in the national curriculum.

As children progress they may consider taking the grade Examinations - DRMS is an examining centre for national qualifications.

Those who choose to continue in music then have the whole range to consider: more formal instrumental lessons in groups or individually. Even the most humble beginner will have the opportunity to perform at regular intervals throughout the academic year, alongside more experience 'hardened campaigners'!

From these beginnings many past pupils have gone on to make a career in music, either as teachers or performers - or both - but at DRMS it is never forgotten that the real value of a musical education lies in the lifetime enjoyment it brings, either as an amateur player/singer or simply an educated 'listener'.
