The subject for the Spring Term 2010 Music Appreciation classes is

FRANZ SCHUBERT: the Modest Genius

Come along and learn more about this fascinating figure, whose music was known during his lifetime only to a handful of friends but who is now regarded as one of the immortals. This series comprises five meetings beginning in the last week of January (but with no meetings in the half-term week beginning 15th February) and is priced at £30 for the whole course or £7 for each individual session.

As usual there are four centres at which you can catch this course:

Shaftesbury Arts Centre - Mondays 10.00-11.30am

Bridport (The Chapel in the Garden, East Street) - Wednesdays  10.00-11.30am

Dorchester (The United Church) - Wednesdays 2.00-3.30pm

Blandford (DRMS) - Thursdays 2.15-3.45pm

A Sideways History of Music

A different course will be presented in the Allendale Centre, Wimborne entitled A SIDEWAYS HISTORY OF MUSIC, six snapshots of the 18th century, each week comparing works written in the same year by a wide range of composers from France, Italy, Germany and England.

This will take place on TUESDAY afternoons from 2.00 - 4.00 starting on January 19th and running until March 2nd. The cost of this course is £30 for all six sessions and £6 per individual meting.
