DORSET RURAL MUSIC SCHOOL offers the finest tuition in . . . Piano, keyboard, saxophone, recorder, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar (all styles), trumpet, trombone, music theory and singing. In addition we offer Music Appreciation classes and one-day courses to students of all ages.

DRMS was inaugurated in 1947 as part of a nationwide rural counties initiative. We are the last of the counties to maintain its title and thanks to some heroic championing of our school and the good stewardship of teachers, governors and Musical Directors we have survived.

Whilst other county music schools have been swallowed by their LEAs, Dorset's is now alone in bringing specialist music teaching and appreciation in a rural county where pupils range from young pupils to teenagers, parents and adults of all ages and abilities.

Retired people are particularly valued, especially those who, instead of mourning the lost years, decide to revisit old skills or learn new ones
